Borusan EnBW Enerji orders turbines to add 210 MW of wind farms in Turkey

Borusan EnBW Enerji has ordered turbines for two onshore wind farms in Turkey with a combined capacity of 210 MW.

Under the agreements, General Electric Co. unit GE Renewable Energy will supply turbines for the 138-MW Saros wind project and Vestas Wind Systems A/S will supply turbines for an expansion of the 28-MW Kiyiköy wind facility, according to an Aug. 7 release. GE Renewable Energy's scope of work also includes a 10-year services agreement.

Kiyiköy, which has been in operation since 2015, will be expanded to generate about 100 MW. Both wind projects are scheduled to come online by the end of 2020 and are expected to increase the Cypress platform's total installed capacity to about 646 MW.

Borusan EnBW Enerji is a German-Turkish joint venture between EnBW Energie Baden-Württemberg AG and Borusan Yatirim ve Pazarlama A.S., with each owning 50%.
