Greencoat Capital acquires 40-MW biomass project in UK

Private equity company Greencoat Capital LLP struck an agreement to acquire the 40-MW Templeborough biomass power plant in Rotherham, U.K., from Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners K/S. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The Templeborough project is a waste wood biomass power plant that started commercial operations in February. It can generate enough electricity for 78,000 homes, according to an Oct. 24 company news release.

The acquisition was made on behalf of a number of Greencoat Capital's pension fund clients. Rothschild & Co. and Mirae Asset Daewoo Co. Ltd. acted as financial advisers to Copenhagen Infrastructure, while Evercore, Poyry and Eco2 advised Greencoat Capital.
