FT: FCA probes unfair employee treatment at Royal Bank of Canada's London branch

The U.K.'s Financial Conduct Authority launched an investigation on the work culture at Royal Bank of Canada's London branch, following complaints of unfair treatment from former employees, Financial Times reported, citing people familiar with the matter.

Inquiries began in summer 2018 when former employees claimed they were dismissed after raising legal and compliance issues in the Toronto-based company, the publication wrote.

According to the report, an official investigation can mean substantial fines for the company and possible sanctions for senior executives if the regulator finds a wrongdoing.

The Financial Conduct Authority declined to comment on the investigation, FT wrote.
