Sprint Corp. partnered with live location platform developer Mapbox Inc. to launch precision mapping technology using its Curiosity internet of things network and operating system.
The partnership will allow automated services that run on Sprint's dedicated IoT network to move with accuracy, according to a Jan. 8 news release. Mapbox collects data from location-enabled sensors, which use artificial intelligence to provide feedback in real time.
Smart machines, including drones and autonomous delivery carts, will be able to make location and routing decisions using maps which update with changes in the environment.
The Curiosity IoT network and operating system is powered by Sprint's mobile 5G.
