3 Latin American stock exchanges study integration

The stock exchanges of Chile, Peru and Colombia have commenced a feasibility study on a potential integration of infrastructure and services, the three entities announced in separate statements.

Bolsa de Comercio de Santiago Bolsa de Valores, Bolsa de Valores de Lima SAA and Bolsa de Valores de Colombia SA have agreed to form a commission to monitor the initiative's progress.

The proposed move aims to "deepen and accelerate the current efforts of regional integration," the Peruvian bourse said, adding that the analysis is currently in a preliminary stage

The discussions between the bourses follow Brazilian stock exchange operator B3 SA - Brasil Bolsa Balcão aggressively purchasing stakes in all three entities in recent years, Diario Financiero reported. B3 has also reportedly purchased a stake in Argentine bourse BYMA.

According to S&P Global Market Intelligence data, B3 currently holds stakes of 6.11% and 10.42% in the Colombian and Chilean exchanges, respectively.
