New orders for manufactured goods in the U.S. edged down 0.2% to $469.0 billion in April from the revised $469.9 billion in March, the U.S. Census Bureau reported June 5.
This followed a 1.0% increase in new orders in March.
New orders for durable goods declined 0.8% to $231.0 billion from the previously published 0.7% decrease. Orders for manufactured nondurable goods went up 0.4% to $238.0 billion.
Shipments of manufactured durable goods were down 0.4% to $232.8 billion from the previously published 0.3% drop. Shipments of nondurable goods rose 0.4% to $238.0 billion.
Unfilled orders for manufactured durable goods climbed 0.2% to $1.123 trillion, virtually unchanged from the previously published increase.
Inventories of durable goods were up 0.2%, while those of nondurable goods slipped 0.1%.
