Intact Financial projects C$142M pretax cat losses in Q2

Intact Financial Corp. is expecting second-quarter pretax catastrophe losses of C$142 million, or 75 Canadian cents per share, after tax.

The company said the losses reflect the impact of three storms in central Canada in April and early May involving ice, rain and wind. Two-thirds of the losses were concentrated in personal property with most of the remainder in commercial lines.
