Brinker International Inc. said its normalized net income for the fiscal third quarter ended March 25 came to 86 cents per share, compared with the S&P Capital IQ consensus estimate of 94 cents per share.
EPS climbed 13.0% year over year from 76 cents.
Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was $54.9 million, a gain of 6.0% from $51.8 million in the year-earlier period.
The normalized profit margin climbed to 7.0% from 6.8% in the year-earlier period.
Total revenue grew on an annual basis to $784.2 million from $759.3 million, and total operating expenses rose on an annual basis to $689.5 million from $670.0 million.
Reported net income increased 16.7% year over year to $65.4 million, or $1.02 per share, from $56.0 million, or 82 cents per share.
