AEP seeks coal supply bids

American Electric Power Co. Inc. has issued a request for proposals seeking the supply of bituminous and subbituminous coal types to one or more of its coal-fired power plants.

For the third and fourth quarter of 2019, AEP seeks 200,000 tonnes of Central Appalachian/Colorado coal, 3 million tonnes of Powder River Basin coal, 150,000 tonnes of Illinois Basin coal and 200,000 tonnes Northern Appalachian Basin coal.

For 2020, the company seeks proposals for the supply of 2 million tonnes of Central Appalachian/Colorado coal, 2 million tonnes of Powder River Basin coal, 1.5 million tonnes of Northern Appalachian Basin coal and 100,000 tonnes of Illinois Basin coal only in the first quarter of 2020.

In 2021, the Ohio-headquartered utility wants a total of 1 million tonnes of Central Appalachian/Colorado coal and 1 million tonnes of Northern Appalachian Basin coal. Coal supply proposals must be received no later than 5 p.m. on March 18. The proposals must remain open for acceptance until 5 p.m. on March, 22.
