Emerson Padio swings to loss in fiscal Q2

Emerson Radio Corp. said its normalized net income for the fiscal second quarter ended Sept. 30 was a loss of $507,500, compared with income of $46,250 in the year-earlier period.

Normalized net income excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis.

The normalized profit margin declined to negative 5.7% from 0.3% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue decreased 37.2% on an annual basis to $8.9 million from $14.2 million, and total operating expenses decreased 31.1% from the prior-year period to $9.8 million from $14.2 million.

Reported net income came to a loss of $813,900, or a loss of 3 cents per share, compared to income of $47,000, or 0 cents per share, in the year-earlier period.
