Humana Inc. expanded its orthopedic specialty care for Humana Medicare Advantage members.
It launched a bundled payment model for spinal fusion surgeries called the Spinal Fusion Episode-Based Model, which offers the opportunity for additional payment to physicians and clinicians for improved health outcomes and cost across a member's entire spinal surgery episode-of-care.
The company also broadened the reach of its Total Joint Replacement Episode-Based Model for total hip or knee joint replacement procedures after sealing eight additional agreements with orthopedic specialty groups.
Additionally, Humana and ambulatory surgery center system SurgCenter Development entered into a national network agreement expanding Humana commercial and Medicare health plan member access to SurgCenter's outpatient surgery centers across the U.S. The agreement, which took effect Feb. 1, adds more than 100 SurgCenter locations to Humana's national provider network, and supports total joint replacement for Humana members in an ambulatory surgery center setting.
Also, personalized health and benefits services provider Accolade and Humana will integrate their capabilities. The companies will bring employers and their health plan members the benefit of Humana's provider networks and medical, dental, pharmacy, employee assistance program, work-life services and Go365 wellness reward program capabilities together with Accolade's member engagement services and health and benefits partner programs.

Hub International Ltd. and Tennessee REALTORS, one of the state's largest trade associations, created a fully insured association health plan, which includes three different medical plan options plus a dental and vision option, and wellness services.
Additional benefits will be offered to members through other insurance benefit partners, including accident with a disability insurance rider, critical illness and life insurance with a long-term care rider.
