China's consumer inflation slowed in November, while producer inflation fell "sharply" during the month, Dec. 9 data from the National Bureau of Statistics showed.
The consumer price index, or CPI, edged up 1.7% year over year in November, down from 1.9% in October, Xinhua News Agency reported, citing government data.
NBS statistician Sheng Guoqing said the slowdown in November's CPI was due to a drop in food prices, which take up a significant part of the CPI calculation.
Food prices fell 1.1% in November year over year, 0.7 percentage point more than the decline in October, Xinhua reported.
Meanwhile, China's producer price index rose 5.8% year over year in November, down from the 6.9% growth in October. On a monthly basis, the index was up 0.5%.
Demand for industrial raw materials has eased on the back of government efforts to curb pollution, said Xinhua.
