ANA Holdings fiscal Q1 profit climbs 136.4% YOY

All Nippon Airways Co. Ltd. said its normalized net income for the fiscal first quarter ended June 30 was ¥42.63 per share, an increase of 136.0% from ¥18.06 per share in the prior-year period.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was ¥14.93 billion, an increase of 136.4% from ¥6.32 billion in the year-earlier period.

The normalized profit margin rose to 3.3% from 1.6% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue increased 11.7% on an annual basis to ¥451.72 billion from ¥404.43 billion, and total operating expenses rose 9.2% from the prior-year period to ¥426.28 billion from ¥390.29 billion.

Reported net income increased 668.4% from the prior-year period to ¥51.07 billion, or ¥145.78 per share, from ¥6.65 billion, or ¥19.00 per share.

As of Aug. 31, US$1 was equivalent to ¥110.11.
