Sempra forms new operating group for North American infrastructure businesses

Sempra Energy formed a new operating group for its North American infrastructure businesses encompassing its Mexican and LNG operations.

The new group, named Sempra North American Infrastructure, includes the company's Mexican operating subsidiary Infraestructura Energetica Nova SAB de CV, or IEnova, and Sempra LNG & Midstream, which handles the Cameron LNG LLC liquefaction project near the Gulf of Mexico and other LNG development and marketing activities, according to an Aug. 8 news release.

"This new streamlined organizational structure will better align our non-utility operations to serve our global customers, and develop and execute projects even more effectively," said Jeffrey Martin, CEO of Sempra Energy.

IEnova Chairman and CEO Carlos Ruiz Sacristán will serve as chairman and CEO of the group. Sacristán will retain his position of executive chairman at IEnova's board, while Tania Ortiz Mena will take over as CEO, replacing Sacristán, effective Sept. 1. Ortiz is also set to be nominated to become a member of IEnova's board. Ortiz currently serves as IEnova's chief development officer.

Octávio Simões was named president and CEO of Sempra LNG & Midstream, a promotion from his current position as president. Simões will also retain his role as chairman of Cameron LNG. Other personnel appointments for Sempra North American Infrastructure include Justin Bird as chief development officer; Amy Chiu as chief asset management officer; and Kathryn Collier as CFO and chief administrative officer. The organizational changes are effective Aug. 25.
