Midland States Bancorp CFO resigns to join Independent Bank Corp.

Effingham, Ill.-based Midland States Bancorp Inc. CFO Stephen Erickson resigned to take up a similar role at Grand Rapids, Mich.-based Independent Bank Corp.

Erickson will join the Michigan-based financial institution Feb. 1, 2020. He replaces Robert Shuster, who will retire Jan. 31, 2020, as executive vice president and CFO. Beginning Sept. 23, Erickson will serve the company as its executive vice president and treasurer and will succeed Shuster following his retirement.

At Midland, Donald Spring was promoted to chief accounting officer, and he will temporarily lead the finance department while the bank searches for Erickson's permanent replacement. Spring was previously Midland's corporate controller.

Midland States Bancorp is the holding company for Midland States Bank, and Independent Bank Corp. is Independent Bank's parent.
