Duke Energy Renewables Inc. announced that its 200-MW wind farm in Starr County, Texas, started commercial operation Dec. 31, 2019.
The power generated by the wind facility will be sold into the Electric Reliability Council Of Texas Inc. market, according to a Jan. 6 news release.
The Duke Energy Corp. subsidiary entered into a long-term hedge agreement covering the majority of the project's expected output.
Vestas Wind Systems A/S supplied 56 wind turbines, each with a 3.6-MW capacity. Amshore US Wind provided development support for the project, and Wanzek Construction served as contractor.
