Report: Banijay drops plans to acquire Endemol Shine

French production company Banijay Group SAS has backed out of plans to acquire its Netherlands-based peer Endemol Shine Group, TBI Vision reported, citing sources.

Banijay and Endemol Shine have reportedly failed to agree on the potential deal's price, despite being in talks since last fall.

The development means Endemol Shine, currently valued at about $2.6 billion, is once more open to other buyers, according to the report.

Banijay reportedly considered a joint bid for Endemol Shine in line with supposed plans to select some of the latter's assets. ProSiebenSat.1 Media SE's Red Arrow Studios was supposedly one of those considering the joint bid, but has denied its involvement in sales talks.

Other companies that expressed interest in Endemol Shine but ultimately backed out included Lions Gate Entertainment Corp. and Sony Corp. Meanwhile, RTL Group and British broadcaster ITV PLC said they were not interested in buying the content production powerhouse.

Endemol Shine is jointly owned by Apollo Global Management LLC and Walt Disney Co., which took over as co-owner after it acquired selected assets of 21st Century Fox Inc.
