Banco de Costa Rica extends interim CEO's term

Banco de Costa Rica said its board decided to further extend Douglas Soto Leitón's term as interim CEO for another 30 days.

He will remain in the interim role until Feb. 14, unless the bank finds a permanent chief earlier.

Soto Leitón was appointed to the position in February 2018 after Mario Barrenechea Coto was suspended as CEO amid an investigation into certain loans allegedly granted by the company.

Barrenechea Coto resigned as Banco de Costa Rica's CEO in April 2018.
