Bricks and mortar: Bank Independent, First Cahawba Bank open branches in Alabama

S&P Global Market Intelligence rounds up notable branch openings and closings over the past week. This wrap excludes certain moves by banks with more than $5 billion in assets and certain credit unions.

Midwest

Sparta, Mich.-based ChoiceOne Bank opened a branch at 590 E. Division St. NE in Rockford, Mich., the Grand Rapids (Mich.) Business Journal reported Dec. 6.

The bank also opened a branch at 330 Market Ave. SW in Grand Rapids, Mich., in October, according to a press release posted on the bank's blog.

Brownsdale, Minn.-based First Farmers & Merchants State Bank, a unit of 215 Holding Co., closed its branch at 103 Main St. in Sargeant, Minn., according to the Minnesota Department of Commerce's Dec. 3 application activity report.

Southeast

Doraville, Ga.-based First IC Bank in October opened a branch at 204-08 Northern Blvd. in Bayside, N.Y., according to the Georgia Department of Banking and Finance's November bulletin.

Selma, Ala.-based First Cahawba Bank in November opened a branch at 601 Trojan Parkway in Troy, Ala., according to the state banking regulator's November report.

Southwest

Lubbock, Texas-based Centennial Bank, a unit of Commerce BancShares Inc., in November opened a branch at 1322 River Terrace in New Braunfels, Texas, according to the Texas Department of Banking's website.
