Somos Educaçí£o profit misses consensus by 93.6% in Q4

Somos Educação SA said its normalized net income for the fourth quarter came to 5.5 million reais.

Normalized net income excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis.

The normalized profit margin was 7.3%.

Total revenue came to 382.5 million reais, and total operating expenses came to 332.6 million reais.

Reported net income came to 3.9 million reais, or 1 centavos per share.

For the year, the company's normalized net income totaled a loss of 3 centavos per share, compared with the S&P Capital IQ consensus normalized EPS estimate of 62 centavos.

EPS was 31 centavos in the prior year.

Normalized net income was a loss of 7.8 million reais, compared with income of 81.8 million reais in the prior year.

Full-year total revenue rose year over year to 1.18 billion reais from 1.13 billion reais, and total operating expenses grew 11.9% on an annual basis to 1.04 billion reais from 931.3 million reais.

The company said reported net income totaled a loss of 19,000 reais, or a loss of 0 centavos per share, in the full year, compared with income of 85.3 million reais, or 33 centavos per share, the prior year.

As of March 29, US$1 was equivalent to 3.67 reais.
