J&J Snack Foods Corp. said its normalized net income for the fiscal second quarter ended March 28 came to 77 cents per share, compared with the S&P Capital IQ consensus estimate of 74 cents per share.
EPS climbed 8.3% year over year from 71 cents.
Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was $14.4 million, a gain of 8.3% from $13.3 million in the prior-year period.
The normalized profit margin dropped to 6.4% from 6.5% in the year-earlier period.
Total revenue climbed 9.6% on an annual basis to $225.0 million from $205.3 million, and total operating expenses climbed 9.8% from the prior-year period to $203.2 million from $185.0 million.
Reported net income grew 8.3% on an annual basis to $14.7 million, or 78 cents per share, from $13.5 million, or 72 cents per share.
