Kinder Morgan Inc. General Counsel James Curtis Moffatt died Dec. 28, 2018.
Moffatt had planned to retire in August, so the company already began looking for a successor, according to a news release. Adam Forman, Kinder Morgan's vice president, deputy general counsel and corporate secretary, will serve as interim general counsel.
"Curt served KMI well for decades, both as an outside adviser and, for the last five years, as a full-time employee," CEO Steve Kean said. "He will be greatly missed." The company said Moffatt suffered a cardiac arrest while spending holiday time with his family.
Kinder Morgan is one of the largest energy infrastructure companies in North America and operates oil, gas and refined petroleum product pipelines and terminals.
