Intuit to power Calif. headquarters with wind

Intuit Inc. on Feb. 2 struck a deal with wholesale energy marketer Renewable Power Direct LLC for the supply of energy to its global headquarters in Mountain View, Calif.

Intuit has contracted for the output of the 38-MW Buena Vista wind farm, owned by ArcLight Capital Partners affiliate Leeward Renewable Energy LLC and located in Contra Costa County, Calif.

The physical power will be supplied by the PG&E Corp. distribution system. Buena Vista's output will support each megawatt-hour consumed by Intuit. The wind farm began operating in 2006, and a previous contract for its output expired last year, according to data from SNL Energy, an offering of S&P Global Market Intelligence.

Under an eight-year agreement, Just Energy Group Inc. and its Commerce Energy subsidiary will provide wholesale and retail services to Intuit.
