Sayona Mining Ltd. started the second phase of resource expansion drilling at its Authier lithium project in Quebec.

The 4,000-meter diamond drilling program will look to expand the size and improve the existing resource, the company said Jan. 25.

Additionally, Sayona said it is planning to further expand the total project area resource by drilling recently discovered pegmatite.

The Authier project hosts JORC 2012-compliant mineral resources of 13.74 million tonnes at 1.07% lithium oxide for 146,700 contained tonnes, at a 0.5% lithium oxide cutoff.
