Berkeley Energia fails to secure building permit for Salamanca uranium project

Berkeley Energia Ltd. failed to secure a permit from the municipality of Retortillo in Spain to build the Salamanca open-cast uranium mine, Reuters reported Dec. 22.

The municipality ruled that the company does not own the land required for the project, and has failed to present the relevant documentation, according to the report.

The ruling for this project is due next year.

In October, sources said that the county was set to block the required permits for the mine.
