Kroll affirms ratings for Hilltop Holdings, PlainsCapital Bank

Kroll Bond Rating Agency affirmed the senior unsecured debt rating of A-, subordinated debt rating of BBB+ and short-term debt rating of K2 for Dallas-based Hilltop Holdings Inc.

The rating agency also affirmed the deposit and senior unsecured debt ratings of A, subordinated debt rating of A- and short-term deposit and debt ratings of K1 for PlainsCapital Bank, Hilltop Holdings' lead subsidiary bank.

The outlook for all long-term ratings is stable.

Hilltop Holdings' comparatively strong core earnings performance supports the ratings, according to Kroll. The rating agency also views PlainsCapital Bank as well-positioned in the Texas market for growth while maintaining a prudent risk posture.
