Report: ANZ Bank (Taiwan) denies possible market exit amid chairman resignation

ANZ Bank (Taiwan) Ltd. rebuffed speculation that it will be exiting the Taiwanese market following the resignation of three executives, including Chairman Alistair Bulloch, the island's Central News Agency reported June 8.

The lender clarified that it has no plans to pull out of Taiwan, adding that the executive management changes were normal.

Speculation that the bank was planning to exit the Taiwanese market rose after it announced June 7 the resignation of Bulloch as well as the retirement of Terry King as nonexecutive director, which both took effect June 1. In early May, Chen Fu-lan also stepped down as director.

However, ANZ Bank (Taiwan) said it is set to appoint Liu Hung-jui as its new chairman.

ANZ Bank (Taiwan) is a unit of Australia & New Zealand Banking Group Ltd.
