Mechel extends coke export contract with Turkey's Kardemir

Mechel PAO is prolonging its agreement on coke supplies with Turkish steelmaker Kardemir Karabük Demir Çelik Sanayi Ve Ticaret A.S.

The company will supply Kardemir with 200,000 tonnes of metallurgical coke produced at its Moscow coke and gas plant in 2019, an almost 70% increase in supply compared to the previous deal.

The company said Jan. 15 that it will ship the coke via Port Mechel Temryuk in Russia's Krasnodar region.

Mechel Mining Management OOO CEO Pavel Shtark said that over nine months of 2018, the company increased coke exports by 16%.

In December 2018, the company extended an agreement to supply China's Jidong Cement with thermal coal until the end of 2019.
