US to impose antidumping duties on wooden cabinets from China

The U.S. Department of Commerce set preliminary antidumping duties of up to 262.18% on wooden cabinets and vanities imported from China after an investigation found that Chinese exporters have been selling the products in the U.S. at below fair market value.

The department assigned a preliminary dumping rate of 4.49% for The Ancientree Cabinet Co. Ltd. and 80.96% for Rizhao Foremost Woodwork Manufacturing Co. Ltd. Certain Chinese companies were assigned a dumping rate of 39.25%, while Dalian Meisen Woodworking Co. Ltd. and the rest were assigned 262.18%.

The American Kitchen Cabinet Alliance, which petitioned the investigation, noted that the antidumping duties are in addition to earlier imposed countervailing duties averaging 16% and Section 301 tariffs of 25%.

Imports of wooden cabinets from China were valued at about $4.4 billion in 2018, Commerce said. The department will make a final determination on or about Feb. 17, 2020.
