Delphi Automotive profit misses consensus by 23.9% in Q1

Delphi Automotive PLC said its normalized net income for the first quarter was $1.11 per share, compared with the S&P Capital IQ consensus estimate of $1.46 per share.

EPS increased 18.5% year over year from 94 cents.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was $299.9 million, an increase of 15.3% from $260.1 million in the prior-year period.

The normalized profit margin rose to 7.0% from 6.4% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue climbed 5.9% on an annual basis to $4.29 billion from $4.05 billion, and total operating expenses climbed 5.3% on an annual basis to $3.76 billion from $3.57 billion.

Reported net income increased 5.8% from the prior-year period to $334.2 million, or $1.24 per share, from $315.9 million, or $1.14 per share.
