Hooker Furniture Corp. said its normalized net income for the fiscal fourth quarter ended Feb. 1 amounted to 39 cents per share, compared with the S&P Capital IQ consensus estimate of 28 cents per share.
EPS increased 91.3% year over year from 20 cents.
Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was $4.2 million, an increase of 91.6% from $2.2 million in the year-earlier period.
The normalized profit margin climbed to 6.4% from 3.8% in the year-earlier period.
Total revenue rose 12.7% year over year to $64.9 million from $57.6 million, and total operating expenses increased 7.9% from the prior-year period to $58.4 million from $54.1 million.
Reported net income grew from the prior-year period to $4.2 million, or 39 cents per share, from $2.0 million, or 19 cents per share.
For the year, the company's normalized net income totaled $1.13 per share, compared with the S&P Capital IQ consensus normalized EPS estimate of $1.04.
EPS rose 55.3% from 72 cents in the prior year.
Normalized net income was $12.1 million, an increase of 55.6% from $7.8 million in the prior year.
Full-year total revenue rose 7.0% from the prior-year period to $244.3 million from $228.3 million, and total operating expenses increased on an annual basis to $225.3 million from $215.8 million.
The company said reported net income grew 57.0% year over year to $12.5 million, or $1.16 per share, in the full year, from $8.0 million, or 74 cents per share.
