London Stock Exchange Group PLC officials are on a roadshow in Africa in an effort to attract more listings from the continent, Bloomberg News reported.
Ibukun Adebayo, LSE's director of emerging markets and international markets, said the exchange, which currently has 115 African listings, is counting on its partnerships with exchanges in certain African countries, including Nigeria and Kenya, for dual listings, according to the May 21 report.
The roadshow, which covers the Kenyan capital of Nairobi and the Angolan capital of Luanda, followed one in South Africa two months prior, Bloomberg noted. Adebayo said future roadshows in Abidjan, Cairo and Casablanca are also in the works, with a final stop in New York also planned to showcase companies to African investors as part of a United Nations initiative.
Among the companies that have announced plans to list on the exchange are National Oil Corp. of Kenya Ltd. and Econet Wireless Zimbabwe Ltd.
