Actua Q1 loss narrows YOY

Actua Corp. said its normalized net income for the first quarter was a loss of 22 cents per share, compared with a loss of 24 cents per share in the year-earlier period.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was a loss of $8.3 million, compared with a loss of $8.7 million in the year-earlier period.

The normalized profit margin increased to negative 28.0% from negative 28.5% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue grew 13.1% year over year to $34.6 million from $30.6 million, and total operating expenses rose year over year to $49.5 million from $47.5 million.

Reported net income totaled a loss of $14.3 million, or a loss of 38 cents per share, compared to a loss of $14.8 million, or a loss of 40 cents per share, in the year-earlier period.
