Luzerner Kantonalbank names new board chair

Luzerner Kantonalbank AG named Doris Schurter to chair its board, succeeding Mark Bachmann.

Schurter, who has been a member of the bank's board since 2010, will be the first woman to chair it in the lender's 167-year history. An active lawyer in the canton of Lucern, she also sits on the boards of several other companies, including insurance group Helvetia Holding AG.

Bachmann will step down after the bank's April 12 annual general meeting, having served as a board member since 2005 and as chairman since 2011. He said he believes that eight to 12 years is the right time to serve on a board.

The bank also named marketing strategist Stefan Portmann to its board as a new member.
