Crestwood commissions gas processing plant, decides on expansion

Crestwood Equity Partners LP started commissioning Phase 1 of its Bear Den natural gas processing plant and reached a final investment decision on Phase 2, which will add a new 120 MMcf/d cryogenic gas processing facility.

Phase 1 of Bear Den will provide 30 MMcf/d of processing capacity, supporting increasing gas volumes on the partnership's Arrow gathering system on the Fort Berthold Indian Reservation, according to a Dec. 6 press release. The project will also alleviate current curtailments from its third-party processor with the added capacity.

Crestwood said it plans to scale the Phase 2 expansion to handle all processing requirements for producers on the Arrow system at the expiration of third-party processing contracts in the third quarter of 2019. The expansion, with a projected cost of $185 million, is targeted to be in service in the second quarter of 2019. When it is complete, the partnership would have a combined gas processing capacity in the Bakken of 150 MMcf/d.

The partnership also announce the completion of its 100% US Salt LLC equity interest sale to a Kissner Group Holdings LP for $225 million, according to the same release.
