Target Corp. said March 19 that it will be testing a new loyalty program called Target Red starting April.
Target Red is in addition to the discount store retailer's existing Target REDcard program. Members of the new loyalty program will be eligible for a 50% discount on their first year of membership for Target's same-day delivery via Shipt Inc., and will receive free next-day delivery of items from Target's essentials category through Target Restock. Target CEO and Chairman Brian Cornell earlier said the retailer's two-day delivery option will not require membership or extra fees.
Target Red also includes a system that allows cardholders to vote for one of three local organizations where Target can direct its community giving.
The Minneapolis-based retailer will hold the test run of its new rewards program in the Dallas-Fort Worth area in Texas. Customers in the area can enroll in the test program through the Target app, according to the release.
