Xinfa Group Co. Ltd. halted an aluminum production line in China's Xinjiang region due to an explosion, Reuters reported Aug. 20, citing a company source.
The company shuttered annual smelting capacity of around 500,000 tonnes, the source said, adding that it is working to restart production as soon as possible. It was not clear when the accident happened.
An unspecified leakage had initially prompted Xinfa to suspend 100,000 tonnes of production before the subsequent blast, the report said, citing an unnamed industry analyst.
Xinfa Group has about 1.9 million tonnes of smelting capacity in Xinjiang, according to the newswire.
