Mexican Gold Corp. outlined an updated resource estimate for its Las Minas gold-copper-silver project in Mexico.
The project hosts an indicated resource of 645,000 gold equivalent ounces at 3.67 g/t contained in 5.5 million tonnes of ore, and an inferred resource of 217,000 gold equivalent ounces at 2.68 g/t contained in 2.5 Mt of ore, at a gold equivalent cut-off grade of 1.5 g/t.
The company said Oct. 10 that the resource is no longer being analyzed from an open-pit perspective, and the estimate was based on potential exploitation by underground mining methods.
A new drill program at Las Minas will kick off Oct. 15, and drill four highly prospective targets and two geological concepts.
The August 2017 maiden measured and indicated resource at the Las Minas project stood at 304,000 gold equivalent ounces contained in 4.97 million tonnes grading 1.9 g/t gold equivalent.
