New VC firm targets gaming, esports technology

A new venture capital firm has launched a 100 million fund targeting investments in the U.K. and European games, esports and digital sports sectors.

Hiro Capital's fund will generally invest at the series A and B stages, backing technology entrepreneurs and creative studios in its target sectors, and sector-specific applications of cloud, mobile, streaming, big data, artificial intelligence and wearables.

It aims to invest in around 20 companies.

The firm was founded by Ian Livingstone, co-founder of Games Workshop Group PLC, Inspired Entertainment Inc. co-founder Luke Alvarez and co-founder of LoveCrafts Collective Ltd., Cherry Freeman.
