Universal Studios extends shutdown of theme parks

NBCUniversal Media LLC's Universal Studios said it is extending the closure of its theme parks Universal Studios Hollywood in California and Universal Orlando Resort in Florida until at least May 31 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Universal Studios said the hotel operations in Universal Orlando Resort also are temporarily suspended.

The company shut down its Hollywood theme parks starting March 14, originally expecting to reopen March 28.

The Walt Disney Co. had also extended the closure of Disneyland resort in California and Walt Disney World Resort in Florida until further notice.

Comcast Corp. owns NBCUniversal Media.
