Samsung Display exiting LCD business – Reuters

Samsung Display Co. Ltd. will shut down the production of LCD panels in South Korea and China by the end of 2020, Reuters reported March 30, citing a company spokeswoman.

However, the company reiterated that it will continue to supply ordered LCDs to its customers by the end of this year.

The Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. unit, which has two LCD production lines at factories in South Korea and two LCD-only factories in China, previously halted operations at one of its two LCD production lines in South Korea due to the declining demand for LCD panels and too much supply.
