Peru GDP grows 2.16% in 2019, lowest in 10 years

Peru posted economic growth of 2.16% in 2019, the lowest figure recorded in the last 10 years, data from national statistics agency INEI showed.

Continued economic expansion was supported by growth in the service sectors, which rose 3.83% during the year.

The primary sector, which is mostly composed of agricultural and mining activities, grew slightly by 0.18% while the secondary sector, mainly manufacturing, contracted 0.64%.

In December 2019 alone, GDP increased 1.12% year over year.
