OCC approves RockPoint Bank's de novo application

The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency on March 31 approved RockPoint Bank NA's application for a national bank charter, according to data on the regulator's website.

Hamp Johnston is the proposed president and CEO of the new bank, which will be based in Chattanooga, Tenn. Other members of the proposed management team are Patrick Jensen as CFO, Camille Daniel as chief lending officer and Kerry Riley as chief credit officer.

The proposed directors include Astec Industries Inc. former President and CEO Ben Brock, Transcard Payments LLC CFO John Haddock, Hunter Oil President Charlie Hunter, C&D Recycling LLC Manager Deston Hutcherson, Tennessee Valley Authority Director Bill Kilbride, Baylor School COO/CFO Dallas Joseph, Lync Logistics LLC President and CEO Cindy Lee, McOmie Family Dentistry Owner Mark McOmie, Hamilton Plastics Inc. CEO Harshad Shah and Kirby Yost, a shareholder at Chambliss Bahner & Stophel PC.

Bank organizers plan to raise at least $30 million by April 30 to meet regulatory capital requirements. They target to open in the third quarter.
