RENOVA Inc. and its partners selected MHI Vestas Offshore Wind A/S to supply turbines for its planned 700-MW offshore wind farm in Japan.
The Akita Yurihonjo project has been under development since 2015, according to an April 9 news release. Developer Akita Yurihonjo Offshore Wind GK is in talks with local stakeholders to implement the project and put it into commercial operation.
Akita Yurihonjo Offshore Wind is jointly owned by RENOVA, Cosmo Eco Power Co. Ltd., JR-EAST Energy Development Co. Ltd. and Tohoku Electric Power Co. Inc.
MHI Vestas is a joint venture between Vestas Wind Systems A/S and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd.
