Insurance moves: CNA Financial names SVP, chief information security officer

Life and health

Assurance hired Chris Hakim as senior vice president of healthcare, effective April 2.

Most recently, Hakim was senior vice president of Medicare at consumer health insurance agency eHealth Inc.

Property and casualty

CNA Financial Corp. appointed Mahmood Khan senior vice president and chief information security officer.

Khan most recently worked at United Airlines Inc. as a managing director for its cyber security operations.


Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty SE named Ali Shahkarami chief data officer, effective April 1.

He will be responsible for the development and the delivery of company data strategy.

The company said it would shortly name a successor for Shahkarami's former role as global capability lead for underwriting within its digital incubator initiative XSE.


The board of directors of Mercury General Corp. named seven individuals, including Chairman George Joseph and President and CEO Gabriel Tirador, to be elected directors at its annual meeting of shareholders.

Directors George Braunegg, Ramona Cappello, James Ellis, Joshua Little and Martha Marcon were also nominated by the board.


Beazley PLC appointed Priya Kunthasami the first Beazley breach response services manager in Canada.

Based in Toronto, Kunthasami will be responsible for managing breach incidents reported by Beazley's Canadian cyber policyholders. She will also oversee management of Canadian vendors and work with the underwriting and claims to help support the company's relationship with national brokers.

Kunthasami joins from TD Bank, where she worked on cybersecurity projects, including incident response and security mitigation and planning.
