Great Panther Mining suspends Mexican operations amid coronavirus outbreak

Great Panther Mining Ltd. is suspending mining and processing activities at its Guanajuato silver-gold mine complex and the Topia silver-gold mine until April 30, following an order by the Mexican government due to the coronavirus outbreak.

The company said April 3 that it will retain only essential personnel during the suspension period.

Great Panther noted that monthly production from its Mexican operations accounts for about 2% of annual consolidated production on a gold equivalent ounce basis, while its Tucano gold mine in Brazil accounts for remaining production, where operations are continuing normally.

"The company has prepared contingency plans in the event that there is a full or partial shutdown [of Tucano] and is prepared to act quickly to implement them," said Great Panther in a statement.
