Chubb Ltd. is investigating a "computer security incident" that may involve unauthorized access to data held by a third-party service provider, Reuters reported, citing a spokesperson.
The company has no evidence the incident affected its network, which "remains fully operational," the spokesperson said.
Brett Callow, a threat analyst at security firm Emsisoft, told TechCrunch that the incident involved a data-stealing ransomware attack launched by the Maze group. Chubb's spokesperson declined to comment further or answer TechCrunch's questions.
Chubb is one of the cybersecurity insurers that offers solutions for businesses hit by data breaches, electronic thefts and denial-of-service attacks.
