Berkshire Hathaway Energy wins FERC approval to buy US portion of 230-kV line

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission on March 31 approved BHE U.S. Transmission LLC's proposed acquisition of the U.S. portion of the Montana Alberta Tie Line from an Enbridge Inc. subsidiary.

The tie line is a 230-kV merchant transmission line that extends about 215 miles from a substation near Lethbridge, Alberta, to a substation in Great Falls, Mont. BHE Canada Holdings Corp. is buying the Canadian portion of the line from Enbridge, and in February filed a notice with the Canada Energy Regulator. The line began operating in 2013.

BHE Transmission and BHE Canada are both subsidiaries of Berkshire Hathaway Energy. (FERC docket EC20-34)
