Six third-quarter deals helped Morgan Stanley stay in the top spot of the common equity underwriter rankings for the specialty finance and mortgage REIT industries by deal value for the first three quarters of 2018. In the most recent quarter, Morgan Stanley was among the book managers on Annaly Capital Management Inc.'s $753.8 million, MFA Financial Inc.'s $395.8 million, Blackstone Mortgage Trust Inc.'s $193.5 million, New York Mortgage Trust Inc.'s $88.6 million, AGNC Investment Corp.'s $816.8 million and Western Asset Mortgage Capital Corp.'s $70.5 million follow-on offerings.
Bank of America Corp. secured the top spot for debt underwriting for the specialty finance and mortgage REIT sectors with deal credit of $5.96 billion from 96 deals in the first three quarters.
Financial technology and payments
Goldman Sachs & Co. LLC took the No. 1 spot in the common equity league table for the financial technology and payments sectors for the nine months ended Sept. 30. In the third quarter, the Goldman Sachs Group Inc. unit was among book managers for First Data Corp.'s $1.75 billion follow-on offering, its only assignment during the period.
Goldman Sachs & Co. also topped the deal credit debt league tables for the financial technology and payments space as of Sept. 30 with a cumulative deal credit of $2.53 billion from 10 offerings.
Asset management and investment banks, brokers and capital markets
Morgan Stanley topped the number-of-deals and deal credit common equity league tables for asset management, investment banking, broker and capital markets companies for the first three quarters of 2018. During the three months ended Sept. 30, the investment bank served as the sole book manager on State Street Corp.'s $1.15 billion follow-on offering and was among book managers on TriplePoint Venture Growth BDC's $82.2 million and Hamilton Lane Inc.'s $136.2 million follow-on offerings.
Goldman Sachs & Co. LLC led the deal value league table for debt offerings for the asset management, investment banks, brokers and capital markets sectors through the first three quarters of 2018 with deal credit of $16.94 billion from 96 offerings.
