U.S. real estate exchange-traded funds logged total net outflows of $321.4 million during the second quarter, bringing total assets under management to $49.23 billion.
Vanguard Group Inc.'s Vanguard Real Estate ETF saw the largest net outflow during the quarter, at $546.7 million, while Charles Schwab Corp.'s Schwab U.S. REIT ETF accumulated $194.3 million in net inflows during the quarter, the highest among the group.
All U.S.-focused real estate equity ETFs posted positive returns over the three months ended June 30 and outperformed the S&P 500. Invesco Capital Management LLC's Invesco KBW Premium Yield Equity REIT ETF led the group with a return of 16.6%, 13.2 percentage points above the S&P 500's 3.4% return. During the same period, the SNL U.S. REIT Equity index posted a three-month total return of 8.5%.
